It depends upon your mode of transportation.
If headwinds or tailwinds affect the ground speed by adding or subtracting, you will lose more time in a headwind than you gain in a tailwind with the same wind speed, when making a round trip. This is most easily shown with equations, but since you are not allowed to use math, that is all I have to say.
