Find an equation of the line that passes through the point (3,10) and is parallel to the line x-3y=1

  • Math -

    since it is parallel, the new equation should also start off with
    x - 3y = ????

    so let x -3y = c
    sub in the point
    3 - 3(10) = c
    c = -27

    so x - 3y = -27
