In simple harmonic motion such as this,

Maximum speed = w*A,
where w is the angular frequency and A is the amplitude.

The maximum speed is attained at the equilibrium position, and that is why we can use this formula.

In this case, w = 2 pi/0.5 = 4 pi
= 12.57 radians/s

maximum speed = w*A = 12.57*0.02 = 0.251 m/s
