Hi for my english class, we have to make an invention using cheap material that is useful, original, and provides a solution to a problem. We actually have to show the class like a prototype of it and I have no idea what to do! Mines on tuesday and I'm so stressed over it. (My idea was to make something that separates plastic and paper for a recycling bin, but i have no idea what i would make..so please help provide me with more ideas for inventions).

For your idea, you could do something with water. Once water hits a mix of plastic and paper, the paper will disintegrate and sink, and the plastic stuff will be left.

How could you demonstrate that, do you think?

Sorry but someone already did that they used a plastic cup of water and a straw and filtered out the dirt/impurities...you have any other ideas?

Nope -- sounds like a science fair thing to me.

You might try googling for science fair project ideas and see what pops up.

It's not a science fair project its a creative studies english class...it can be anything that has a solution to a problem, new or useful. Please I seriously need help on this, I am so stressed you have no idea.

I can definitely help you come up with some ideas for your English class project! Let's brainstorm some inventions that meet the criteria of being useful, original, and solving a problem. Here are a few ideas:

1. DIY Phone Amplifier: Create a simple device using plastic cups, cardboard, and a small speaker to amplify the sound of a smartphone. This invention could improve the audio quality and make it easier to enjoy music or enhance video experiences.

2. Kitchen Tool Organizer: Design a low-cost organizer using recycled materials like cardboard or plastic bottles to keep kitchen utensils and tools neatly stored. This invention would help reduce clutter and make it easier to find and access cooking tools.

3. Solar-Powered Phone Charger: Construct a solar-powered charger using a small solar panel, a power bank, and some basic electrical components. This invention allows you to charge your phone using renewable energy sources, even in outdoor or remote locations.

4. Multi-Purpose Desk Organizer: Create a versatile desk organizer using empty coffee cans, recycled cardboard, or plastic containers. This invention could include compartments to hold pens, paper clips, sticky notes, and even a slot for a phone or tablet.

5. Eco-Friendly Plant Watering System: Develop an automated watering system for plants using recycled materials like plastic bottles, tubing, and a timer. This invention would help conserve water by only providing plants with the right amount of hydration they need.

Remember, the key is to choose an invention that you can reasonably prototype using cheap materials. Consider the resources you have available and the skills you can showcase within a limited timeframe.

Once you've chosen an idea, focus on creating a simple prototype that demonstrates your concept. You can use materials like cardboard, plastic, tape, and any other inexpensive items you have at home. Good luck with your project, and I hope you find these ideas helpful!
