Backups for home is always a personal decision, depending on what the person does with the computer, the value of his/her data and how much he/she is willing to invest in the backup.

Media available today include extra hard-disks, DVD, or external disks. The choice of these media depend on the quantity and frequency of data to be saved, as well as the budget.

Irrespective of the value of data, it is very important for a personal computer owner to have a backup of the operating system in the event of hard-disk error/failure.
