If there was a problem like this: 2yx for y=8 and x=5, you would write it like this: 2(8)(5). Which do you multiply first? 8x5 then x2 or 2x8 then x5?
makes no difference
2x8x5 = 16x5 = 80
= 2x5x8 = 10x8 = 80
= 5x8x2 = 40x2 = 80
etc
2x8x5 = 16x5 = 80
