For my english class we had to make a list of things that annoy us and we have to do a log entry that "select hits" and develop some clusters. Like i know cluster refers to groups, so things like traffic and red lights can be grouped together (driving), but i don't get what it means when it says select hits.

hits, as in songs?

It sounds as if you need to ask your teacher to define the term. I've never heard of this before.

In the context of your English class assignment, "select hits" refers to choosing specific items from your list of things that annoy you. These selected items are the ones you will focus on for further analysis and development of clusters.

Here's how you can go about selecting hits:

1. Make a list: Begin by making a comprehensive list of all the things that annoy you. This list can include a wide range of annoyances, such as people chewing loudly, slow internet connections, or even reality TV shows.

2. Initial selection: Once you have your list, review it and identify the items that stand out the most or bother you the most. These are your potential "hits." Choose the ones that you feel will provide rich content for analysis and clustering.

3. Consider frequency and impact: You can prioritize your hits by considering their frequency and impact on your life. For example, if something like loud neighbors happens frequently and significantly affects your peace, it might be a good hit to choose.

4. Diverse range: Try to select hits that represent a diverse range of annoyances from your list. This will help create well-rounded and insightful clusters.

Once you have selected your hits, the next step is to develop clusters, which involve grouping these selected hits based on common themes or categories. In your example, traffic and red lights can be grouped together under the cluster of driving-related annoyances.

Remember to document your selection process and reasoning in your log entry to provide context and demonstrate your thought process to your teacher.
