evaluate 1^3=
evaluate (1)^2=
evaluate 1^2=

exponents means to multiply by itself,, thus:
(A) (1)^3 = (1)(1)(1) = ?
*solve for this.
(B) here, only 1 is raised by 3,, the negative sign (or the 1) is excluded:
(1)^3 = (1)(1)(1) = ?
(C) process is same as that of letter (A)
(D) process is same as that of letter (B)
