Please Help!!!: How many seconds will it take a 12hp motor to lift a 1500lb elevator at a distance of 9ft? what was the average velocity of the elevator?

English Units?
convert hp to ftlb/sec to get motor power http://www.gordonengland.co.uk/conversion/power.htm
motor power=1500lb*velocity or
motor power= 1500lb*9ft/time
either solve for time, or velocity.
