Are the following sentences semantically / gramatically correct?

1)Alert the supervisor to any defective material found.

2)Some equipment have been taken away for inspection. After inspection, ensure that all the equipment are accounted for.

The first sentence is fine.

In the second sentences, equipment is singular. Also, we try not to end sentences with prepositions.

Some equipment has been taken away for inspection. After inspection, please ensure that you account for all equipment.

After inspection, ensure that all equipment is accounted for using the checklist given.

Is the above sentence acceptable?

the inspection process?

To determine whether the sentences are semantically or grammatically correct, we can analyze them individually.

1) Alert the supervisor to any defective material found.

This sentence is both semantically and grammatically correct. It is a command or instruction, asking the reader to inform the supervisor about any defective material that is discovered. The verb "alert" is used correctly, and the sentence follows proper subject-verb-object structure.

2) Some equipment have been taken away for inspection. After inspection, ensure that all the equipment are accounted for.

This sentence is grammatically correct but has a semantic issue. The verb "have" should be revised to "has" to agree with the singular subject "equipment." So the corrected sentence would be:

"Some equipment has been taken away for inspection. After inspection, ensure that all the equipment is accounted for."

However, semantically, there is an issue with the use of "ensure." To ensure that something is accounted for implies certainty, but the word "all" in this context can introduce ambiguity. It suggests that it might be challenging to accurately account for every single piece of equipment. To convey a clearer meaning, it would be better to use "make sure" instead of "ensure":

"Some equipment has been taken away for inspection. After inspection, make sure that all the equipment is accounted for."
