Hey! How's it going? Can anyone help me out here? My teacher asked us students to come up with a mnemonic device for PEMDAS (you know, the order of Operations), other than Please Exuse My Dear Aunt Sally. I came up with great ideas, but she changed her mind! Now I have to make one with or's between the M and D, and A and S... Kinda like this.... I tried really hard on a couple... but she said they didn't make sense and it has to make sense:

Purple
Eggplants
Make OR Ditch
Awesome OR Songs
Please help me! Thank you!

People

Eat
Mud or
Dirt
Ants or
Spiders

Oh Thanks Ms.Sue!

Hi! I can help you come up with a mnemonic device for the order of operations that includes OR between the M and D, and A and S. Here's an example that you can use:

Purple
Elephants
Munch OR Devour
Apples OR Strawberries

To come up with this mnemonic, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by listing the words that represent each letter in PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction.

2. Next, think of two words or phrases that start with the same letter as each operation, and have a connection with the operation. For example, for Multiplication and Division, you can use "Munch" and "Devour" to represent these operations.

3. Then, add the word "OR" between the pairs of words representing each operation. This helps to remember that either operation is valid in that position.

4. Finally, think of two words or phrases that start with the same letter as Addition and Subtraction, and have a connection with the operation. For example, you can use "Apples" and "Strawberries" to represent these operations.

By creating connections between the operations and memorable words or phrases, you can use this mnemonic device to remember the order of operations. Feel free to modify or add your own words to make it even more personalized and easier to remember.
