I have found out that India spent over 7 billion dollars on the common wealth games. My question is that did they beat China's record on the money? I am pretty sure India did but I am still asking to double check.
It's difficult to estimate, but this site puts China's cost at over 40 billion dolllars.

It's hard to compare because much of the cost was necessary for urban renewal and infrastructure.
