How does the gulf stream affect northern europe?
It moderates the temperatures of the areas near the coast.
Several years ago I visited Inverness, Scotland and admire our host's roses. He said that he tries to keep them blooming until December. Yet Inverness's latitude is the same as Hudson Bay in Canada. He can thank the Gulf Stream for those late blooming roses.
