A golf ball is hit off the ground at an angle of pie/6 and it travels 400 ft. How long was the golf ball in the air?

  • math -

    vertical velocity= V*sin PI/6= V/2
    Horizontal velocity= V cosPI/6=V*.866

    check that.

    distance= 400=V*(.866)time

    vertical distance=0=V/2*time-16time^
    time= V/32

    put that into the first equation (V=32t)
    400=.866*32t*t solve for t

    thanks
