2. Are you finished with cleaning?
(Which one is correct?)

1. Are you finished cleaning.= correct
2. I'd use the noun "cleaning" and then you'd have "Are you finished with the cleaning?"

Thank you.
What about the following?

1. Did you finish cleaning?
2. Are you finished cleaning?

(What is the difference between Sentence 1 and Sentence 2?)

There is no difference in meaning between sentences 1 and 2.

Sentence 1, "Did you finish cleaning?" is in the past tense and is asking about a completed action. It is asking if the person completed the task of cleaning at some point in the past.

Sentence 2, "Are you finished cleaning?" is in the present tense and is asking about the current state or condition. It is asking if the person has completed the task of cleaning and is currently in a finished state.

So, the difference between the two sentences is the timeframe they are referring to. Sentence 1 is asking about the past completion of the task, while Sentence 2 is asking about the present completion of the task.
