I’m studying Redox Chapter. In this chapter I came across a point regarding oxidation.

“Loss of electron results in decrease in negative charge”
e.g
MnO^2- = MnO^- + e^-
2Cl^- = Cl2 + 2e^-
S^2- = S + 2e^-

Now first tell me what does "2e^-" means secondly in the third example

S^2- = S + 2e^- As per the above statement the loss of electron shouldn't it be

S^2- = S^- + 2e^-

Please explain me!!!

2e- means two electrons.

No on S^2- = S^- + 2e^-. You have two excess electrons on the left, but THREE on the right. It is not balanced.
