Oxidation Numbers
What is the oxidation number of Ga in Ga(NO2)3? is it O?
1 answer
Is it zero? No. Nitrite ion is -1; therefore Ga is +3. Look at the periodic table. Ga is in group 13 which should give you a hint that it is 3.
