A F14 (mass 2 tonne) aircraft lands on an aircraft carrier. It must reduce its velocity from 130kmh to rest. If the grappler hooks can exert 75 000N of tension, what time will it take to bring the plane to a stop?

F = m a
a = 75000N/2000kg =37.5 m/s^2
130 km/hr * 1000 m/km * 1hr/3600s = Vi
v = Vi + a t
0 = Vi  a t
t = Vi/a
