A yard is 3 feet. 1 1/2 feet is half a yard.
1 rod is 1/320 of a mile or
1 rods = 0.003125 mile

40 rods = 40/320 = 1/8 mile
so 80 would be 1/4 and then 1/2 right?
How would I show a kid in third grade on how to remember to do this. Is there an easy formula?
I'd make or find a table that would show these equivalents.
Better yet, I'd help him make such a table so he could refer to it.
