Help!!

13. Use the Distributive Property to simplify 7(6x^2 + 5x + 4)

15. Evaluate 5w^2 if w = .5

19. Write a simplified expression to represent 5 times the sum of x and 3 increased by 10.
Is it 10+5(x+3) ?

Thanks

Also,

15. Evaluate 5w^2 if w = .5
Is the answer 6.25?

13. 7(6x^2 + 5x + 4)

= 42x^2 + 35x + 28

Many mathematicians would consider
7(6x^2 + 5x + 4) to be more "simplified" than the expanded version.

15. 5(.5)^2 = 5(.25) = 1.25

19. yes

I don't quite understand how you got that for #15..don't you have to take it to the second power?

And-- 7(6x^2 + 5x + 4) to be more "simplified" than the expanded version..what is this for?

Thanks

I did.

5(.5)^2
= 5(.5)(.5)
= 5(.25)
= 1.25

For the other part, I simply commented that the original expression in factored form is considered to be more simplified than the expanded form. In other words, the question is poorly worded.
I should have simply said, "Expand"

Okay, thanks for your help!

Sure, I can help you with these math questions! Let's break them down one by one.

13. To simplify 7(6x^2 + 5x + 4) using the distributive property, you need to distribute the 7 to each term inside the parentheses:
7 * 6x^2 = 42x^2
7 * 5x = 35x
7 * 4 = 28
So the simplified expression becomes 42x^2 + 35x + 28.

15. To evaluate 5w^2 if w = 0.5, you need to substitute the value of w into the expression:
5 * (0.5)^2 = 5 * 0.25 = 1.25
Therefore, 5w^2 equals 1.25 when w is 0.5.

19. To write a simplified expression representing 5 times the sum of x and 3 increased by 10, you can follow these steps:
1. Start with the sum of x and 3, which is (x + 3).
2. Multiply the sum by 5: 5(x + 3) = 5x + 15.
3. Finally, increase the result by 10: 5x + 15 + 10 = 5x + 25.
Therefore, the simplified expression is 5x + 25, not 10 + 5(x + 3).

I hope this explanation helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
