Trying to help my grandaughter do her homework. Please help! They are learning about verbs in sentences.
In the following sentence she is to underline the verb. "My father takes us hiking every Saturday." I am thinking it is "takes" but my daughter thinks it is "hiking". Is it both?

    In this sentence, "hiking" is used as a noun (gerund).
