if u cut any size circle 5times , what is the greatest amount of pieces i can get?

Do the pieces have to be ths same size? If so (cutting through the center like like pizza), I get a maximum of 10. If not, I see a way to get get 15. See if you can find a way to get more.

I assume that the cuts must be straight lines.

10

To find the greatest number of pieces you can get by cutting a circle 5 times, you need to consider how the cuts intersect. Each time you make a cut, it intersects with the previous cuts, creating new sections.

Here's how you can determine the maximum number of pieces:

1. Start with the original circle; it counts as one piece.
2. The first cut divides the circle into two pieces.
3. The second cut intersects with the first cut and divides each of the two existing pieces, resulting in four total pieces.
4. The third cut intersects with the first two cuts and divides each piece again, resulting in a maximum of eight pieces.
5. The fourth cut intersects with the previous three cuts and divides each piece, resulting in a maximum of 16 pieces.
6. Finally, the fifth cut intersects with the previous cuts and divides each piece, resulting in a maximum of 32 pieces.

So, if you cut a circle five times in any manner, the greatest number of pieces you can obtain is 32.
