what is the point of inverse functions? i heard it helps with temperature(Fahrenheit and Celsius) conversions, but i don't understand how it helps and how it is faster than just solving for it.

0ne example of importance is inverse trigonometric functions, which often appear in the solution to physical problems and in integral calculus.

Another example is e^x, the inverse function of ln(x).

Knowing the inverse function is also useful when one must solve many times for x when y is known, since solving the y(x) equation for x each time is more time consuming.
