How do you factor out 4x(squared)-12x+5?

Summer really messed up my memory, sorry :) :) :)

4x^2 -12x +5 = (2x -5)(2x -1)

There is a bit of guesswork involved. The constant terms in the factors have to be negative and have a product of 5. The coefficients of the x terms have to be positive and have a product of 4.

My first guess worked.
