How do you set this up as an equation?
There is a total of 1600 cups and bowls. cups cost 1.90 and bowls cost 2.85. how many of each do you have if the bill was 3430.00. and that includes 105.00 saucer.

• algebra -

Does that mean there were 105 saucers or that \$105.00 was spent on saucers? If \$105 was FOR sauccers, then \$3325 was for cups and bowls.

You can write two independent equations for the number of cups (C) and the number of bowls, B.

One of them is B + C = 1600.
Write the other (based upon cost) and solve the two together.
