find the range

7, 7, 5, 4, 1, 9, 8, 8, 8, 5, 2

I have mixed feelings and responses to this when asking my friends, some people say it is the lowest to highest which is 1 - 9 but then some say that you have to subtract the lowest and highest which is 8 which is the correct way to find range

To find the range of a set of numbers, you need to find the difference between the highest and the lowest values in the set. In this case, the numbers in the set are: 7, 7, 5, 4, 1, 9, 8, 8, 8, 5, and 2.

First, let's organize the numbers in ascending order: 1, 2, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9.

Now, we can see that the lowest value in the set is 1 and the highest value is 9. To find the range, we subtract the lowest value from the highest value: 9 - 1 = 8.

Therefore, the range of the given set of numbers is 8.
