hi im lauren and i have a big math test tomorrow(7th grade) and i need 2 know wht interval means. And i need the expalnation 2 be so simple that a little kid can understand it. lol. Can someone answer like in the next 10 mins plz! thx!! hurry peeps!!lol

Don't know if it is still useful, as it is past 10 minutes.

An interval is a mathematical notation to indicate a continuous range of numbers. The lower limits and upper limits are separated by a comma. If the lower limit is included in the interval, we put an opening bracket [ before the limit, if it is excluded, we put an opening parenthesis (. Same goes for the upper limit, but the bracket/parenthesis is placed after the upper limit.
For example,
[4,8)
will range from 4 to 8, but 8 is excluded.

It is also important to specify the number space if the interval does not contain real numbers (i.e. with decimals, etc.)

This was good maths (yes it was helpful lol) from 2009!? That’s damn old tho

Hi Lauren! I'd be happy to explain what an interval means in a simple way. An interval in math refers to a range of numbers between two points. It's like a little highway where all the numbers that fall between those two points can travel.

To understand this better, think of a number line. You know those horizontal lines with numbers on them? Imagine you have a number line with 0 at one end and 10 at the other end. Now, let's say you want to find the interval between 3 and 7 on that number line.

You would start at 3 and travel along the number line, passing through 4, 5, 6, and finally reaching 7. All the numbers between 3 and 7 - 4, 5, and 6 - are part of the interval between 3 and 7. So, the interval between 3 and 7 is the range of numbers starting from 3 and ending at 7, including all the numbers in between.

I hope that explanation helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your math test!
