A parent complains about the use of manipulatives in the classroom and likens their use to the use of fingers to count. How do you respond?

    Children (and adults) learn visually and tactically, as well as auditorily. Some learn better with one method than the other. It's a teacher's responsibility to present concepts using as many of the students' senses as possible.
