P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2

combined gas law
1.0atm*0.50L/298K=5.0atm*0.50L/T2

Can you help me to go from this step to the solution?

Multiply both sides by 298 T2

P1 V1 T2 = 298 P2 V2
so
T2 = 298 (P2 V2) / (P1 V1)

T2 = 298 (5 * .5) / (1 * .5)

T2 = 5 * 298

You increased the pressure by a factor of five without changing the volume. Therefore the absolute temperature has to be five times the original.
