Pretend the parentheses are absolute value bars.

Solve: (x+5) < 5

The choices are:

a. -10 < x < 0
b. -5 < x < 5
c. -10 < x < 5
d. -10 < x < 10

I'm not sure how to solve this and how the answers relate to the question. Please help if you can! Thank you! :-)

│x+5│ < 5

x+5 < 5 AND -x - 5 < 5
x < 0 AND -x < 10
x < 0 AND x > -10

or -10 < x < 0 which is a)
