When salt and water molecules attract, of what charge is the salt, and of what charge is the water? Thanks for explaining.

The NaCl breaks into separate ions of Na^+ and Cl^-. The water molecules are dipoles. The negative end of the water dipole is attracted to the Na^+ and the positive end of the water dipole is attracted to the Cl^-.
