How do you solve this? 2x^6/4x^2

When you divide 2 and 4, how do you know whether to put the answer on the nmerator or denominator?

You can either put 2/4 (= 1/2) as a factor or 4/2 (= 2) in the denominator.

To me, it looks more elegant to avoid fractions when you can, and put the integer 2 in the denominator (in this case).

The answer is (1/2)*x^4 or (x^4)/2
