how do you pronounce "jouets"

do you pronouce the "t"?
and how do you pronouce "representaient"?

thanks

Once you learn the sound system for French, it will be very easy:

jouets = "jou" rhymes with "you" and although I hate trying to represent French sounds with English letters = jyou
The "ets" is like the first letter of the English alphabet = a. Because the final letter is "s" you will not hear that.
"jyou'-a" (stress on the first syllable)

So you pronounce NEITHER the "t" nor the "s"

In French there are 3 "e's" so it is most important to put the accent where it belongs. The word élève has all 3 "e" sounds.
e = uh / é = a / è = eh
re = ruh
pré = pray
sen = (nasal) so (you don't really hear the "n")
taient = tay (rhymes with bay, say)

représentaient = ruh-pray-so-tay'

The very best thing to do is to get someone to put the sounds on a hand-help tape recorder for you with a space after each word. You can use that space to repeat, to read, or later to write.

thanks a bunch=D

To pronounce "jouets," you would follow these steps:

1. Break it down: "jouets" is a French word and is pronounced as "zhweh" (the "j" is pronounced like the "s" in "measure" and the "u" is pronounced like the "oo" in "food").
2. Do not pronounce the "t" at the end of "jouets." In French, the "t" at the end of a word is usually silent, so you would simply omit it when pronouncing "jouets."

To pronounce "representaient," you would follow these steps:

1. Break it down: "representaient" is also a French word and is pronounced as "re-pruh-zohn-teh" (the "re" is pronounced like the "ruh" in "rush," the "pr" is pronounced like the "pr" in "pretty," the "en" is pronounced like the "ahn" in "John," the "taie" is pronounced like the "te" in "tell," and the "nt" is pronounced as a nasal "n").
2. Do not pronounce the final "t" in "representaient." The last "t" in "representaient" is silent, so you would omit it when pronouncing the word.
