3 a x^2 + 6 = 2 b x
at x = 1
a+6 = 2 b
or
a - 2 b = -6
There are two equations with two unknowns. Solve for a and b.

3a+6 = 2 b
or
3a - 2 b = -6

Sorry, I get a = -2 and b = 0 however I look at it.

Put those values a = -2 and b = 0 back into the original equations and you find that they check. I think there is a typo in the problem statement.
