Loss of nutrients- when the trees are removed, the nutrients within them are lost.

i need to explain this in my own words.does it mean when the trees are cut down all the nutrients are lost from the tree roots

The nutrients in forest soils are there because of the role played by years of decay of forest materials such as fallen leaves and decaying branches. When the trees are gone, not only is the source of nutrients removed, but erosion accelerates the washing away of nutrients already in the soil. Cultivation of farms on deforested land, without the addition of fertilizer, also removes nutrients in a few years.
