need help

x(to the second power -don't know how to type it on the computer)-7x-30=0
I know the factors are 10 & 3, but I don't know how to write the equation/expression

not sure if this is what u mean but (x+3)(x-7)=0

sorry i meant (x+3)(x-10)

The ROOTS are 10 and -3. The factors are

(x-10) and (x+3)

The factored equation is
x^2 -7x -30 = (x-10)(x+3)

Multiply it out to verify.

drwls THANKS!

To write the equation or expression using the factors 10 and 3, you need to use the concept of factoring. Factoring is the process of breaking down an algebraic equation into its individual factors.

In this case, you have the quadratic equation x^2 - 7x - 30 = 0. To factor this equation using the factors 10 and 3, you need to find two numbers whose product is equal to the product of the coefficient of x^2 (which is 1) and the constant term (which is -30), and whose sum is equal to the coefficient of x (which is -7).

To find these numbers, you can create a pair of parentheses and set them equal to zero, like this: (x - a)(x - b) = 0. Then, you need to find two values of a and b such that a * b = -30 and a + b = -7.

Based on the factors you mentioned (10 and 3), you can try different combinations until you find the correct values. In this case, you can use -10 and 3 as the values for a and b, respectively, as -10 * 3 = -30 and -10 + 3 = -7.

Therefore, writing the equation/expression using the factors 10 and 3, you get (x - 10)(x + 3) = 0.

To solve the equation, you can set each factor equal to zero and solve for x:
x - 10 = 0 => x = 10
x + 3 = 0 => x = -3

So, the solutions to the equation x^2 - 7x - 30 = 0 are x = 10 and x = -3.
