we are re-teaching the metric system and i forget how to do any of it! can you help me with like convertic and things? thx - k gurl

To convert (anything), not just metrics.

Original unit x factor.

Arrange the factor (such as 1 ft/12 inches) such that the unit you don't want to keep cancels and the unit you want to keep stays. For example, convert 12 feet to inches.
12 ft x (12 inches/1 ft) = 144 inches. Note that the ft cancels with ft (that's the unit we don't want to keep) and we keep the inches since that is the unit we want for the answer. What do I mean about the arrange part? You KNOW not to use
12 ft x (1 ft/12 inches) = 1 BECAUSE the units don't work out. That is 1 ft^2/inches and we don't want that for our answer.
Metrics are done the same way.
