A person has a total yearly income of $36,000. The part of thier income spent on transportation is 15%. How do I find the fraction in simplest form that represents the part of thier income spent on transportation? I don't want the answer, just how to get the answer.
Thank you!

  • Math -

    15% = .15 = 15/100
    now simplify 15/100
by dividing top and bottom by 5

Note that you do not need to know the income to find the fraction.
