I need to know about fashion and style during the Heian period. Also, please revise this narrative about a girl during the Heian period. ONly edit if you know what youre doing. this is my final so no fooling please!! thanks so much (due 2morrow) HELP!!! (PS THIS IS ONLY a part of the narrative!!)

First you must cover your whole face with white face powder until your face is pale, or as bright as the moon. Also, add some blotches of red on your cheeks to look lady-like. Next you must take off any eyebrow hair that has grown and paint on a new set. Then just apply a bright red lipstick to your lips.
It’s also very important to keep your hair in a bun, which gets really heavy because we never cut our hair. A women’s hair should always be longer than her own height. That is why I consider myself lucky for being short!
After Shin-ho is done doing all of this, she goes to our closet to get her kimono out. Since there is no special occasion today, her and I will just wear our house clothing. We put on about 9 different layers of regular kimonos and then add an uwagi, which is a coat like garment and a mo, a skirt like garment worn over the kimono.
It does get pretty heavy wearing about 12 layers of clothing a day but we must for that is what all women of our period do. One time, we went to the holy pilgrimage and umma made Shin-ho and I wear 22 layers. Oh the torture!
Since there is not much work to be done in the house, umma makes us practice our calligraphy. “You must if you want to get yourself a good husband!” At this, Shin-ho smiles for this is not something she must worry about too much. I must admit, sometimes I am scared for my sister.
When all this will change, I don’t know. We can’t keep on living like this forever because Shin-ho’s right. It feels like slavery in our own homes. Maybe it will be her who will go to the emperor to speak up for us. Of course that would bring shame to the family but I bet all the youth of our time will be relieved. Whatever happens, let us hope that it be for the best!

This site may give you some further information. Also I would suggest your googling - Heian period, fashion.

and what about the narrative exert?

During the Heian period, which lasted from the 9th to the 12th century in Japan, fashion and style played a significant role in the lives of women. It was a time of elegance and refinement, with a focus on achieving a delicate and ethereal beauty.

To revise the narrative about a girl during the Heian period, we can make some changes to accurately reflect the fashion and style of that time:

First, women during the Heian period did indeed use white face powder to achieve a pale complexion. However, rather than covering the entire face, they typically only applied it to the exposed parts of the skin, such as the neck and hands, leaving the face natural. They believed that this pale complexion resembled the beauty of the moon.

While red blush was used, it was applied sparingly and in a subtle manner, not in blotches. The ideal was to create a gentle and modest appearance. Similarly, women did paint their eyebrows, but they would use black ink to create thin and delicate lines.

For the lips, women of the Heian period preferred a subdued and soft look, often applying a light pink or coral color rather than a bright red.

Regarding hair, women would wear their hair long and tie it up into a traditional Japanese hairstyle known as "nihongami." It would typically be styled in a low bun, decorated with beautiful hairpins and accessories.

As for clothing, women would wear layers of silk kimonos called "junihitoe." Usually, they would wear five or more layers, which differed in color and pattern, reflecting their social status and the occasion. Additionally, an "uchikake," a long outer robe with elaborate patterns, would be worn on top.

It is important to note that during the Heian period, women did not engage in heavy physical labor. The notion of "practice calligraphy to get a good husband" does not accurately reflect the lifestyles of women during that time. Women of noble birth, such as the protagonist in the narrative, were primarily involved in courtly pursuits, such as poetry and music.

To create a more accurate and culturally-sensitive narrative, you could focus on the protagonist's experiences within the courtly environment, her interactions with other noblewomen, and the societal expectations placed upon her. Remember to do thorough research and ensure that the narrative aligns with historical accuracy.
