How has society's responsibilty to individual needs changed in the last ten years?

In my opinion, society's RESPONSIBILITY to individual human needs has not changed in the last ten years.

However, many corporations have not met their responsibilities to people. They've outsourced jobs to lower wage countries, thus depriving Americans of jobs. They've cut back or eliminated their previously supplied health care benefits. At the same time, health care costs have skyrocketed, partly due to increased profits in the health care industry. Government-sponsored social security regulations have raised the initial age of granting these benefits. The mortgage loan industry took advantage of people's desire to own homes and extended credit to those who couldn't meet their payments. Credit card companies charge fees and high interest rates -- especially to those least able to pay them.
