A woman once had a beautiful rubber tree, but when her sister saw her watering it, she laughed and asked why she was watering an artificial plant. So she stopped watering the plant, and in a few months it died. Explain, using at least five characteristics of living things, how she could have determined that the plant was living without killing it.
