Provide me tips on how to complete the change over time essay (which deals with changes and continuties over time).

I have to debate which events affected global trade systems the most (either political, economic, or social). I have to analyze how the spread of religions and the expansion of post-classical empires affected trade systems from 600-1450.

I chose Ghana, Mali, Bantu Migrations, and the Mongo conquests for political.

For social, i chose black death, feudalism in europe and japane, and guilds in europe.

For economic, i chose paper money, expansion of silk roads, trans-saharan routes, and indian ocean routes, and the mass production of porcelain and silk.

Whenever I work with students who need to research and/or write something that deals with change of any kind, the best plan to start with is this:

Be able to describe the person/character/situation at the beginning of the timespan you're dealing with.

Then be able to describe the person (etc.) at the end of the timespan.

Now tell about what brought about those changes.

Clearly, you have quite a number of topics and lots of researching to do, but that is the way I'd organize my research.

At this webpage, you can go immediately to the search sites (first three columns across the top) -- or even better you can scroll down until you see the section called HOW TO SEARCH THE INTERNET. Those are the links to start with. You'll not only learn how to come up with good search terms, but also how to evaluate the webpages you get as results. Some will be good and others will be garbage. You need to know how to tell the difference.

... and one to help you judge whether a particular website's information is worth your time:

To effectively complete a change over time essay that focuses on changes and continuities in global trade systems, consider the following tips:

1. Understand the Prompt: Make sure you fully understand the requirements and the time period specified in the prompt. In your case, the prompt asks you to analyze the impact of the spread of religions and the expansion of post-classical empires on trade systems from 600-1450.

2. Create a Thesis Statement: Develop a clear thesis statement that reflects your position on which events had the most significant impact on global trade systems. Your thesis statement should provide a roadmap for your essay and guide your analysis.

3. Research and Gather Evidence: Conduct thorough research on the events you have chosen. Explore primary and secondary sources to gather evidence and supporting arguments for your essay. Look for specific examples, trends, and influential factors related to the impact of the chosen events on trade systems.

4. Organize Your Essay: Use a clear and logical structure for your essay. Typically, a change over time essay includes an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each body paragraph should focus on a specific event and its impact on trade systems.

5. Analyze Changes and Continuities: For each event, discuss how it affected global trade systems during the specified time period. Analyze both the changes and continuities in trade patterns, routes, networks, cultural exchanges, and economic systems. Use evidence and specific examples to support your analysis.

6. Compare Events: To evaluate which events had the most significant impact on global trade systems, compare and contrast them. Consider the magnitude, duration, and extent of the effects. Evaluate how each event shaped trade systems differently and identify any interconnections between them.

7. Consider Multiple Perspectives: Analyze the impact of events from political, economic, and social perspectives. This will provide a comprehensive analysis and a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between events and trade systems.

8. Ensure Coherence and Logical Flow: Maintain clear and logical transitions between paragraphs and ideas. Ensure that each paragraph contributes to the overall argument and connects back to your thesis statement.

9. Provide Evidence and Examples: Support your analysis with specific evidence and examples. This can include historical facts, quotes from primary sources, statistical data, or case studies. The more concrete and detailed your evidence, the stronger your argument will be.

10. Revise and Edit: After completing your essay, revise it carefully. Check for clarity, coherence, grammar, and spelling errors. Ensure that your essay effectively addresses the prompt and conveys your ideas clearly.

By following these tips, you will be able to complete a well-structured and insightful change over time essay on how the spread of religions and the expansion of post-classical empires affected trade systems from 600-1450.
