I'm currently reading a novel and I want to learn how to speed read through it and still remember the info I have read. Anyone know how I can do that?

In korea, I used to attend speed reading classes.

I'll tell you 1 teeny secret. you read in 1 big Z per page. its really hard at first, and there are more "secrets" :D but that's mostly what it is.
I'm not the best, as there are people who read far faster then I, but I can read a letter sheet full of words, 12pt font. in exactly 6 seconds flat... and still remember enough to get an A+ on the test afterwards. Try it out or look online.

hope that helps.

Speed reading is a technique that can help you read faster while still comprehending and retaining the information you read. Here are some tips to help you learn and practice speed reading:

1. Keyword Technique: Focus on identifying and mentally noting the main keywords in each sentence, as they often carry the essential information. Skim through the text, highlighting or underlining important words as you go.

2. Eliminate Subvocalization: Subvocalization is the habit of silently pronouncing words in your mind as you read. Try to break this habit by using techniques like reading aloud or humming softly while reading. Gradually increase your reading speed as you become more comfortable.

3. Use Peripheral Vision: Instead of reading word by word, try to expand your field of vision and read groups of words or phrases at a time. This can be practiced by using a pen or your finger to guide your eyes as you move smoothly across the lines.

4. Reduce Fixation Time: Minimize the time spent on each word or group of words. Avoid going back and re-reading, as this can slow down your reading speed. Trust your brain's ability to understand and retain the meaning, even if you miss a few minor details.

5. Set a Purpose: Determine your reading goal before starting, whether it's scanning for specific information, gaining a general understanding, or looking for key points. This can help you stay focused and avoid getting bogged down in unnecessary details.

6. Practice Regularly: Like any skill, speed reading improves with practice. Start by consciously increasing your reading speed in short increments and gradually aim for your desired reading pace. Over time, you will become more comfortable and proficient.

Remember, while speed reading can enhance your reading speed and efficiency, it might not be suitable for every type of reading material, such as complex texts or literature requiring profound analysis. Use your judgment to decide when speed reading is appropriate.

By adopting these techniques and practicing regularly, you can become a more efficient reader while still retaining the necessary information from the novels you read.
