What are some of the famous works in African American literature?

    Ralph Ellison,Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Alex Haley, Alice Walker, Zora Neale Hurston - all have written outstanding novels. I particularly enjoyed Beloved, Roots ,The Color Purple.

    Outstanding poets are Rita Dove and Cyrus Cassells.
