Vivian needs 11 1/2 yards of rope for one project and 2 9/16 yards of rope for a second project. What is the total amount of rope needed

    11 1/2 + 2 9/16 =
    change to improper fractions.
    (23/2 + (41/16) =
    find the common denominator of 16
    (184/16) + (41/16) =
    add numerators
    (184 + 41)/16 = 225/16 =
    reduce to lowest terms.
    I don't see anything that will divide into both 225 and 16 to reduce it.
    Check my thinking. Check my arithmetic.
