1. evaluate log(base2)[(1/32) X 4^9]
2. simplify: log x^2 y  (1/2)logx + 3 log y

2. 2 log x + log y  (1/2) log x + 3 log y
= (3/2) log x + 4 log y
= log [x^(3/2)* y^4]
