If a tsunami is traveling at the speed of 500 miles per hour across the Pacific, how far has it gone in 15 minutes?
1 answer
If it goes 500 miles in one hour, it will go 250 miles in half that time or 30 minutes. Since 15 minutes is a quarter of an hour you divide 500 into a quarter or 125 miles.
