Q about OMAM:

In PART I, what does the place look like?
What is the time of year?
Couldn't find this info. on Sparknotes

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. First of all I would NOT use an Acronym because OMAM usually means something far different from Of Mice and Men. You didn't look att Sparknotes "Key Facts" if you missed these 2 things. It takes place in the 1930's. The fact that it mentions "buck barley" and "migrant workers" and "playing horseshoes" it takes place during that time of the year! If you have to know what the place looks like, imagine Soledad, CA (which you can Google), a bunkhouse, a farm with a barn.

what time of year dothese things take place: "buck barley" and "migrant workers" and "playing horseshoes" ?

I looked up info. on barley and found that it has something to do with a "cool season". Could this be fall?

"buck barley" means to harvest the barley, a grain crop, which takes place in the spring.

Migrant workers are people who move from crop to crop during harvest time. Migrate means to move from place to place.

To play horseshoes - this is a game in which players stand at one "pole" and throw the horseshoes at the other pole. The point is to make the horseshoe land around the pole. Here is a link for the rules and another for pictures.

I just needed to know the season in which those things took place, which turned out to be spring. Could someone please check out the "English-URGENT- HELP NEEDED" post towards the bottom of this page?
