Inclusive Language—Making Language Nonracist and Nonagist. How can I do that. This is my one out of 10 it has me stump.

woman, or person?

Why not just drop the "her age" words?

It's hard to believe a person could accomplish so much. Or...
It's hard to believe a person of such experience could accomplish so much.

In order to make language more inclusive and nonracist/nonagist, there are several things you can do. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Use neutral terms: Instead of specifying gender or age in your language, try to use neutral terms. For example, instead of saying "a woman her age," you could say "a person" or "an individual."

2. Avoid generalizations: Try not to make assumptions or generalizations based on someone's gender or age. Instead, focus on their individual accomplishments or characteristics that are relevant to the topic.

3. Use descriptive language: If you need to include information about someone's age or experience in the context of their accomplishments, do so in a respectful and descriptive way. Instead of using potentially derogatory terms like "old" or "young," use specific descriptions like "experienced" or "early in their career."

4. Focus on abilities and achievements: When highlighting what someone has accomplished, focus on their skills, talents, and achievements rather than their age or gender. This helps to celebrate their accomplishments without relying on stereotypes or biases.

Remember, the goal is to use language that is respectful, inclusive, and free from stereotypes. By being mindful of the words we choose and the assumptions we make, we can create a more inclusive environment for everyone.
