My teacher assigned my class to play out a trial of Medea vs. Jason. I was assigned to the Medea side and I am a lawyer who will try and prove it was Jason's fault that caused all the trouble (killing of Medea's two sons and, princess, and king.) My group told me to question Aegeous but the problem is I can't think what questions to ask King Aegeous to make Medea look good and Jason look bad. I tried to think of something first before coming here, but my mind is just blank. It doesn't seeem like I can ask many, but if you guys have any posible questions you can think of, IT WOULD BE AWESOME. Anyone knowledgable on greek mythology? Thanks guys a lot

Since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "Medea Jason" to get these possible sources:

I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.

Look particularly at the character descriptions of the nurse who is a confident of Medea, Aegeous who agrees to let Medea have safety in his kingdom. Why would he do that? What does he know about Jason? Who knows about what Jason has done so that Medea has to protect him, even to the extent of killing her own brothers? These might be good witnesses.

To build a strong case for Medea and prove that Jason is at fault for the tragic events that occurred, you can consider questioning King Aegeus on the following points:

1. Aegeus' relationship with Jason: Start by establishing Aegeus' knowledge and relationship with Jason. Aegeus should be asked how well he knows Jason, if they've worked together or had any previous interactions, and if he is aware of Jason's character and behavior.

2. Jason's reputation: Inquire about Jason's reputation and public perception. Ask Aegeus if he's heard any rumors or received any negative feedback about Jason. The goal is to establish doubt on Jason's character and establish a motive for Medea's actions.

3. Jason's treatment of Medea: Explore Aegeus' knowledge of Jason's treatment of Medea. Inquire if Aegeus is familiar with the events leading up to Medea's revenge, such as Jason's betrayal and abandonment of Medea for the princess. The key is to highlight Jason's mistreatment of Medea as a potential trigger for her actions.

4. Medea's motive: Ask Aegeus if he has any insight into Medea's motives for seeking safety in his kingdom. Inquire if he knows why she might be desperate for protection and vindication. This will help establish Medea's vulnerability and the severity of the situation she faced.

5. Jason's involvement in the deaths: Finally, see if Aegeus has any knowledge or suspicion of Jason's involvement in the deaths of Medea's children, the princess, and the king. By highlighting any potential connections or evidence, you can further discredit Jason and establish his responsibility for the tragic events.

Remember to consult the provided sources and gather as much information about Medea, Jason, and the events leading up to the trial. This will help you develop a stronger case and formulate more specific and focused questions for King Aegeus.
